"Sourav is Creating Micro Enterprising for Rural Women In India"
In his words: “First we have to make a boat and travel with it and after that we need to take people like us one by one into it to make them travel with it.”
Dynamic determination from Bengal going global
He is a professional turned social entrepreneur; he left his job in a US base software firm and went on to launch Kolkata Society for Cultural Heritage to promote culture and other developmental works mainly in West Bengal. His project “Craft for Development” is already nominated as global project in World Craft Association. He is the only person in India who creates a model which can involve urban technical knowledge to the rural areas for the development of rural economy. After his inspiring lectures more young people are involving themselves into the venture.
He achieved all these in just 29 years of age. He is also awarded by The Royal Govt. of Bhutan for his best idea to make the country green using tourism. Still he is one of the global environment advisors of Royal Govt. of Bhutan. I am personally familiar to this passionate charisma from last two years and observing his activities. So far 1120 households are being benefited by his numerous livelihoods generating mechanisms like Mushroom Cultivation, Poultry, Hatchery and now he is on organic cultivation using non chemical fertilizers. Total 1,783 households will be economically benefited by this project. In his words: “First we have to make a boat and travel with it and after that we need to take people like us one by one into it to make them travel with it.”
