At a conference held in Nîmes, MEP Alain Lamassoure explained how to reject the amendments put forward by the anti-bullfight movement to exclude agricultural aid to bullfighting in Brussels..

The basque MEP Alain Lamassoure, Chairman of the Committee on budgets in the European Parliament, former Minister of the Budget and European Affairs, caused hilarity under 120 economic managers of the Gard, last Thursday last at the CCI de Nîmes.

They were welcomed by the Chamber (CCI de Nîmes, Alès CCI, Chamber of crafts and Chamber of agriculture of the Gard) to talk about Europe and enterprises. But this MEP, invited by his counterpart Franck Proust, also spoke about the functioning of Europe, based on a set of twists and turns on hard to understand compromises.

The Bullfight is the most unknown...

To illustrate his point, he drew on his experience as negotiator and bullfight supporter to answer the following question: "How come that the European Union supports fighting bull breeders?"

Among the 28 countries of the community, there is only one, Spain, which is deeply attached to the Bullfight ("with exception of Catalonia... "), with Portugal and the Southern France, he said."Outside that region the Bullfight is at best unknown and at worst qualified as horribly barbaric."

These 3 countries have joined as allies in bullfighting

Also, logically, in every budget debate, he explained that the anti-bullfighting movement filed an amendment to exclude the fighting bulls from agricultural aid. "How do we counter this amendment? By having allies who need to protect their specific relationships with other animals." And to explain how three countries became allies in bullfighting.

"In Finland, some people harass the seals. It displeases Brigitte Bardot and the Greens but they continue do do that. Moreover, seals are thriving. So when I negotiated representing France, the entrance of Finland in the community, I said to the Finns that I defend their tradition, all countries wanting to ban them the seal hunt, in exchange for defending our bulls. And that is what they did. "

"We let them in and vote they for the bulls..."

"In Sweden, they chew "chwam". They are happy like that, it is their identity. It was said: let them chew on their thing and ensure that it is forbidden to chew on it elsewhere. Since then, the Swedish vote for the bulls."

"In Scotland, they shoot Capercallies. But it is a little violent if you are not from there. It has a flight that makes it very, very difficult to shoot, except after mating. Because then it flies straight up in the sky with a loud cry of joy and poof, they shoot it. These are the Scots. We let them. And they vote for the bulls."

Therefore we better understand why Europe compromised with the fighting bull breeders...

EU, JOYA LEVANTINA, VALENCIA

" Spain – 600,000 Euros of EU recovery to Bullring
Posted by: protouro | November 5, 2013
subsidizes
The EU affirms that it subsidizes bullfights and construction works on Bullrings. Either the governing EU officials are too incompetent to know where the money goes, or consider European citizens as a bunch of idiots.

The Bullring of Ondara, known as the "Joya Levantina", in the region of Valencia, will receive 600,000 euros for restoration from European funds.

According to the Mayor of Ondara, it's not easy to get this aid nowadays, but the Valencian Government fixed it.

It is clear that the Valencian Government succeeded in stealing even more from European taxpayers and we bet that in the EU no one bothered to know exactly where this subsidy went to.

After all, the real concern of the European bosses is to find ways to screw the citizens by ripping them off to poverty.

For the EU these 600,000 euros are small change and in the end those who pay are always the same and that's us.

Although this money could be spent on aid for the needy and families living in poverty, it is more important to restore a bloody torture palace.
